The Love of 24 Hour Care

What is 24 Hour Care?

24 hour newborn care is our beloved overnight newborn care service combined with daytime services. Your newborn care specialist, (formerly referred to as a baby nurse) will take care of your newborn’s every need during a 16-20 hour shift.

When your newborn care specialist is not tending to your baby’s needs, they will help keep the nursery stocked and organized, and perform any other household needs as related to Baby. This may include Baby’s laundry, cleaning pump parts, purchasing / updating baby clothing and supplies, and more.

24 hour newborn care is offered in shifts from 1 week up to 6 months, which can speed the recovery for a new mother and offer a seamless transition into life with a new baby. From sleep training, lactation assistance and overall care management for your baby, your newborn care specialist is on call 24 hours a day. Your newborn care specialist will need a private room in your home and all travel expenses to your area will be the responsibility of the family.

24 hour newborn care ranges from $550-$700+ a shift depending on the education and experience of the newborn care specialist, and travel requirements. Our 24 hour newborn care services are offered nationwide!

What are the greatest benefits of 24 hour care?

  • Consistency for yourself and your newborn during the earliest transition phases

  • Implementation and adjustment of Baby’s schedule as they go through their first milestones

  • Constant access to 1:1 assistance in breast, bottle and formula feeding

  • Allows parents to focus on older children, as usual, to ease the family transition

  • Hands on assistance 16-20 hours a day, so Mom can relax and fully recover

  • Confidence in caring for baby, as you can ask questions directly to an expert, while providing hands on care for your newborn (i.e. education, tips and tricks during bathing, burping, handling, changing, dressing, + more!)

“I’m afraid I wont be able to bond with my baby”

Having 24 hour care, does not mean you will miss out on any bonding time with your baby. In fact, while your specialist is on a 4-6 hour daily break, you and baby are able to spend all the uninterrupted time together! I also ensure that “Family Time” is built into your daily schedule, often times in the evenings, allowing you and your entire family to spend time together, knowing your caregiver is just around the corner if you need her! Parents often feel closer to baby during 24 hour care because they can truly cherish and enjoy every moment they get with baby, as they are otherwise well rested, and confident in their parenting skills.

“Can I still nurse while having 24 hour care?”

Absolutely! Many parents exclusively nurse their baby, during 24 hour care. Still encouraging Mom’s rest and recovery, Baby is often brought to Mom to nurse, then picked back up afterwards, to be otherwise cared for by your provider. Many parents choose to pump and use breastmilk bottles overnight, simply to get both Mom and Baby back to sleep as quickly as possible during the night, ensuring healthy sleep habits for both.

“Does an NCS travel with us during 24-hour care?”

Yes! We often have clients going back to work, traveling for vacations, or in between houses and business trips nationwide. Provided that your NCS has access to a private room, as well as all amenities, food and travel expenses paid for, she and Baby travel with you, continuing care as usual, wherever you may be!

Having 24-hour care should never feel as if you are hosting another individual during this important transition in your life. Instead, your specialist will blend into your household, as an extra set of hands and on call professional. Communication and consistency are key in maximizing every aspect of assistance during this time.
