Lactation Support Services
As a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), I provide lactation support and education to parents, in the home. Whether you are just starting out with your newborn or have been nursing for awhile, I am there to help you obtain your breastfeeding goals. From breast feeding, to breast pumps, milk supply concerns and bottle feeding, I am here to answer all of your questions!
As a Lactation Counselor, I address issues that may not be so noticeable to Mom, such as poor latch, tongue and lip ties, and more. Even if you are not breastfeeding, but you are interested in exclusively pumping for your baby, I have tips and tricks to still obtain a healthy and happy pump plan and relationship that allows you to bond with your baby and successfully stay on top of your baby’s supply and demand.
During a lactation consultation, I provide Mom with information and assistance on appropriate breast pumps, cleaning, sizing and usage if necessary. I address your baby’s latch, breastfeeding positions and specific questions you have. I leave you with a list of recommended products pertaining to breastfeeding and your desired area of assistance.
Breastfeeding is not for everyone and just as you have never done it before, neither has your baby! But, having a knowledgeable Lactation Counselor providing one on one care and support, allows you to learn to breastfeed in the comfort of your own home, with undivided support and education.
“What if I choose to formula feed”?
I support you and your decision! I am still here to help!
As a Specialist, who has worked with hundreds of families, I will be the first to say that NO family, Mom or Baby are alike! Some Moms may try breastfeeding and find it to be uncomfortable, stressful or strange, causing them to develop postpartum depression or anxiety, resulting in a strain on the relationship with Baby or a lack of immediate bonding. Other Moms may be on medications that do not allow them to nurse their baby. Your baby may have a medical condition that do not allow them to nurse, or even no matter what we try, just cannot get the hang of it. Don’t forget, Baby has never done this either! Some parents live by numbers, and just like to know the exact ounce their baby is getting each time they eat. Every situation is different and there is no single right answer for everyone.
If you choose to try breastfeeding and then go the route of formula, I support you. If you want to start formula your very first night home from the hospital and not even think about breastfeeding, I support you. What works best for you and your baby is what works for me.
“How do you help”?
Much like breastfeeding, formula feeding your baby has its own unique challenges and hurdles. As your Newborn Specialist, I can help you address baby’s allergies to certain formulas, find formulas that suit your baby’s needs and developmental stages, help you find the proper bottles and nipples that suit your baby’s feeding habits, implementing feeding schedules and so much more. Anything from recommending sterilizers and formula mixers, to providing you with tips and tricks to help your milk dry up more quickly, I am here to help!
