How it works
Bringing baby home comes with great joy, but also new adjustments in the home. Having a postpartum doula in your home the first few weeks home from the hospital can help your family adjust to life with baby. Postpartum doula care is a great first line of defense against postpartum depression and general overwhelm.
Our postpartum doulas can assist with baby care, light home care, sibling care, light meal prep, and most importantly support and care of the parents. Postpartum doulas can also visit while families are in the hospital for additional support, if necessary.
A postpartum doula can be reserved for as little as one day a week or all seven days, for shifts of 4-12 hours. Rates range from $30-$50/Hour (no additional fees) depending on your specialist, location, & number of babies.
Newborn Nites’ postpartum doulas are trained and certified by ProDoula, DONA and CAPPA.
Benefits & Beyond
Emotional Support:
The transition into new parenthood can be vulnerable, and postpartum doulas are experts in emotional support, active listening and encouraging their clients to follow their own hearts. Empathy, a hug or even a good laugh together can do so much for a new parent!
Evidence-Based Information & Support:
Postpartum doulas are trained to understand what new babies – and new parents – truly need. The doula helps with soothing techniques, offers lactation or bottle feeding support, and explains normal newborn behavior and postpartum recovery expectations.
Practical Support:
It’s all hands on deck with a new baby, and postpartum doulas can help the days go by more smoothly by helping with the baby’s laundry, doing the dishes or preparing simple, nourishing meals.
Partner & Sibling Care:
A new baby means transition for everyone, including parents, grandparents and little brothers and sisters. Postpartum doulas understand what everyone needs, and part of their role is to help the entire family adjust and settle in.
